Background of the Study
Peacebuilding initiatives are essential in post-conflict areas, particularly in regions like Jema’a Local Government Area (LGA) in Kaduna State, which has experienced various forms of ethnic and religious violence. Community resilience—the ability of communities to recover from conflicts, manage future stress, and build a peaceful society—plays a vital role in sustaining peace. Peacebuilding workshops, which aim to foster dialogue, cooperation, and conflict resolution skills, have been implemented as a way to strengthen community resilience in these regions.
These workshops are designed to provide community members with the tools necessary to address grievances, manage conflicts peacefully, and work together to rebuild trust and cooperation. In Jema’a LGA, various organizations have been conducting peacebuilding workshops as part of broader peace initiatives. However, there is limited research on the effectiveness of these workshops in building community resilience, particularly in terms of long-term impacts on inter-group relations and conflict prevention. This study seeks to evaluate the effects of these workshops on the community's resilience in Jema’a LGA.
Statement of the Problem
Despite the numerous peacebuilding efforts in Jema’a LGA, the region continues to face recurring conflicts, indicating that community resilience may not have been fully realized. While peacebuilding workshops have been seen as a potential solution to strengthening resilience, it is unclear whether these interventions are truly effective in the long term. This study seeks to assess the impact of these workshops on community resilience in Jema’a, exploring whether they contribute to sustainable peace or whether there are gaps in the approach that need to be addressed.

Scope and Limitations of the Study
This study will focus on the effects of peacebuilding workshops on community resilience in Jema’a LGA, Kaduna State, . Limitations may include challenges in measuring long-term changes in community resilience, as well as the difficulty of isolating the effects of workshops from other peacebuilding activities in the region.
